Never more than 3 students. Never just sitting and listening.

Pari Passu Learning Group runs on The Loop, our own teaching method built around one idea: students learn by doing and explaining, not by watching. Classes are kept small on purpose, so every child solves, speaks up, and leaves understanding more than when they walked in.

Why Pari Passu

Built differently,
on purpose

Small class. Real attention.
Never more than 3 students. Every tutor knows each student's name, their stumbling blocks, and their pace. Questions don't get lost. Confusion doesn't linger. No student can hide.
One method, every single lesson
Every class here follows The Loop, so the quality never depends on who is in the room or how the day is going. Founded and taught by Phyllis, a Maths graduate, and any tutor who joins is trained and certified in the same method before teaching a single lesson. You also receive a written progress update on your child every single month, so you are never guessing.
Not another lecture after school
Your child has already sat through a full day of being talked at. Here they solve, argue, explain and get things wrong out loud. It's active, it's discussion-led, and it's genuinely enjoyable.
A class students actually want to attend
Class welfare matters deeply to us. Students have access to a cozy relaxation corner and a fully stocked pantry, with snacks and games included, to wind down or do work before or after sessions. Every term, we organise fully sponsored class outings, from volunteering to escape rooms and other fun activities, so students can build real bonds with each other. When students are happy, learning follows.
Our Teaching Methodology

The Loop

Most tuition is a second lecture after a long day of lectures. The Loop is the opposite: your child arrives already knowing the concept, and spends the whole lesson using it.

L

Learn it first

The core concept is self-studied or already covered in school, so not a single minute of lesson time is wasted on lecturing.

O

Own the problem

In class they solve, not sit. Real problems tackled through guided, hands-on activities that are genuinely fun.

O

Out loud

Each student explains how they got there, joins the discussion, and is pushed to think beyond the obvious answer.

There is no single “correct” way to solve a question here. Students are pushed to find different approaches to the same problem, compare them, and work out why one is faster or cleaner. That is where real critical thinking is built.

P

Practise the gap

Work is built around that child's specific weak spots, as preparation for the next lesson. Then the loop begins again.

Why it works

50%
forgotten within a day, when a lesson is only heard
times your child uses each concept in The Loop
100%
of our students explain their thinking out loud, every lesson
225
studies compared active learning to lecturing. Active learning won.

Memory fades fast when a lesson is only heard. That is not your child, that is everyone. What makes learning stick is using an idea more than once, and that is exactly what The Loop is built to do.

Active learning has been proven to beat lecturing for decades. Knowing that is not rare. Having classes small enough to actually do it is.

Here is the part a big centre cannot copy

You never truly know something until you have to teach it. Once a class grows past five, almost no student ever gets that chance. In ours, every student does, every single lesson.

Before anything else, let's find out where your child actually stands

Every student begins the same way, with a free consultation. It costs nothing, there is no obligation to sign up, and even if you never join a class you will leave knowing exactly which topics are solid, which mistakes are careless slips, and which are real gaps. There are two ways to do it. Pick whichever is easier for you.

Option 1

Do the Snapshot

A single-page paper with one question per topic. No pass mark, no time limit, and your child only attempts the topics already covered in school. Most finish in about twenty minutes.

or
Option 2

Send me a recent school paper

Even easier, and nothing new to do. Send a photo of your child's most recent maths test or exam paper from school, marked or unmarked. We read the working and tell you exactly what we see.

What happens next

1
You send it
WhatsApp a photo. That is the whole effort on your side.
2
We mark it personally
Within 48 hours, by hand. Never a template or an auto-generated report.
3
We talk it through
A short honest chat: what is solid, what is a slip, what is a gap, and what we would do about it.
4
You decide
Try a free trial class if you like. Or take the feedback and go. Genuinely no pressure.
What Families Say

Hear what
others say

Real words from parents and students, and a look at the progress they have made with us.

I was introduced to Phyllis in 2024 through a friend whose child she was tutoring in Mathematics. Since then, she has been teaching both of my daughters, and it has been a wonderful experience. To my children, Phyllis is more like a friend than a teacher. They are comfortable talking to her, and there is never any stress during lessons. Under her guidance, my elder daughter improved significantly, developed an interest in solving challenging questions, and eventually achieved AL1 in her PSLE Mathematics. For my younger daughter, who takes more time to grasp concepts, Phyllis has always been patient and supportive, helping her learn at her own pace. I have complete peace of mind leaving my children’s Mathematics education to Phyllis. She is a dedicated, caring, and effective tutor whom I highly recommend.

Elder daughter: AL1, PSLE Mathematics

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for my daughter’s Math teacher, Teacher Phyllis. She is a very patient, calm, and dedicated teacher who genuinely cares about my daughter’s learning and progress. She always takes the time to explain concepts clearly and ensures my daughter understands the lesson. I especially appreciate how she regularly keeps me updated on my daughter’s performance, and her communication helps me support my child’s learning at home. Since she started teaching, I have seen a significant improvement in my daughter’s confidence in Mathematics. She is more willing to participate, ask questions, and tackle challenging problems. Thank you for your commitment, patience, and continuous support. Your dedication has made a meaningful difference in my daughter’s learning journey, and we are truly grateful.

A mentor, not just a teacher

Phyllis holds a Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences with Honours from NTU and brings more than 5 years of teaching experience across both private tuition and established tuition centres. That dual background gives her something most tutors don't have: she knows exactly where the gaps are.

Large tuition centres struggle with distraction. Once a class exceeds 5 students, attention fragments and weaker students slip through quietly. Private one-on-one tuition solves the attention problem but is expensive, and tutors are often part-timers with limited experience. Pari Passu was built to solve both problems at once, and The Loop is the method that came out of it. It is written down, taught the same way every lesson, and every tutor who joins is trained and certified in it before they teach a single student.

Phyllis makes maths engaging and fun. But more importantly, she sees every student as a person, not a transaction. There are no rigid teacher-student hierarchies here. Think of it less as tuition and more as learning alongside a knowledgeable mentor who genuinely wants you to succeed.

Complimentary consultation, before you commit

Before you commit to anything, we highly recommend starting with a free consultation. Your child either does a short Snapshot or simply sends us a recent school paper. We mark it personally within 48 hours, and we sit down together to go through exactly where the gaps are, which mistakes are careless slips versus real misunderstandings, and what the plan forward looks like. It costs nothing, and even if you never join a class, you will know precisely where your child stands.

Fees are billed per lesson. For other levels or private one-to-one lessons, message us on WhatsApp.

A thank-you, not a commission

Know a parent whose child is struggling?

Almost every student we have came from one parent quietly telling another. If you send someone our way and it genuinely works out for their child, we want to thank you properly, and we want your friend to get something too. That way you are giving them a gift, not selling them anything.

Referral You receive Your friend receives
1st referral 1 free lesson or $50 cash 1 free lesson
2nd referral 1 free lesson and $50 cash 1 free lesson
3rd referral onwards 2 free lessons and $100 cash 1 free lesson

The more families you send our way, the more we say thank you.

When it is paid out

Once the new student has completed four lessons, so the thank-you only applies when it has genuinely worked out for their child.

How many you can refer

Up to one referral a month, and ten in a year. If you know more families than that who need help, message us and we will sort something out.

Why it stays modest

We would rather you recommend us because you mean it, not because there is a large commission attached. This is a thank-you, nothing more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask

We cap every class at 3 students, in line with home tuition guidelines. This is non-negotiable, and it's the whole point. Small groups allow the tutor to identify gaps in real time and adjust the pace for every student in the room.
Right now we offer Secondary 3 Additional Mathematics (A-Math, MOE syllabus 4049) at our Admiralty centre. We are planning to expand to more subjects and levels, including E-Math and Sec 4, in the coming year. Register your interest and we'll reach out when new classes open.
Our exact address is shared upon enrolment enquiry. We're within a short walk from Admiralty MRT (NS10). Please contact us and we'll provide the full address along with parking and bus options.
Classes are held once a week, and each session is 2 hours. Consistent weekly attendance is important, because the flipped classroom format builds on each preceding lesson, so regular participation makes a real difference.
Upper secondary classes (Sec 3 & 4) are $90 per class. Fees for other levels and subjects will be confirmed once those classes are ready. No hidden charges. What you see is what you pay.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. Your first trial class is free, with no obligation to continue. Because classes are capped at 3 students, trial spots are limited, so do message early to reserve one. Many families start with the free diagnostic first, so we know exactly where your child stands before they even walk in.
At the end of every term, parents receive a termly progress report along with their child's diagnostic test results. This gives you a clear, structured picture of where your child stands, topic by topic. Day-to-day, Phyllis is always reachable for any questions or concerns.
We are in the planning stages for a Clementi centre, expected to open in 2026. The exact date is yet to be confirmed. If you'd like to be notified when enrolments open there, simply WhatsApp or email us to register your interest, and we'll let you know as soon as it's ready.
Life happens, and we get it. If your child misses a class, the priority is to attend a make-up session in one of the other scheduled classes that week to stay on track. If that's not possible, they're expected to self-study the missed material and come to the next class with their questions ready, and their tutor will guide them through everything they need. Don't worry, they're in good hands. 😊
Yes. Our A-Math programme is fully aligned with the MOE O-Level Additional Mathematics syllabus (4049). We teach each topic in sequence, with past-year examination questions woven in throughout, not just at the end of the year.
